Meet Honey – Your Sweet and Spirited Adventure Buddy!
If you’re looking for a companion who’s equal parts silly, loving, and adventurous, Honey is the perfect match for you! This beautiful 1-year, 11-month-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix is ready to leave her shelter days behind and join a family that will cherish her playful spirit and provide the care she needs to thrive.
Why You’ll Love Honey
Honey is a 50-pound bundle of joy who’s happiest when she’s active and exploring. Whether it’s hiking through the trails, going for a run, or enjoying scent games in the backyard, Honey’s energy is contagious. Her sweet and goofy personality makes her the kind of dog who can bring a smile to anyone’s face.
She’s also a professional cuddler who loves belly rubs and affection. Once she warms up to you, her love knows no bounds, and she’ll quickly become your most loyal sidekick.
A Few Things to Know About Honey
Honey comes from a lineage of hunters, so it’s no surprise that she has a strong nose and a big voice to match! While her vocal tendencies are part of her hound charm, they mean she’s not the best fit for apartment living. Honey thrives in a home with space to roam and an owner who can provide her with plenty of physical and mental exercise.
Her ideal family will:
Be experienced dog owners who can help her navigate her hound instincts.
Not have any resident dogs—Honey prefers to be the queen of her castle!
Live in a house with a yard where she can stretch her legs and follow her nose.
Areas Where Honey Shines and Grows
Like all great adventures, adopting Honey comes with challenges that will make your bond even stronger. Here are some areas where she’s making strides:
Potty Training: She’s learning the ropes and will benefit from consistent reinforcement.
Leash Skills: Honey is strong and could use some guidance to walk calmly by your side.
Managing Excitement: Helping her stay calm during bursts of energy will be key.
Reactivity: On walks, she can be vocal around triggers, so training will help her handle new situations.
What Makes Honey Special
Honey’s personality shines brightest when she feels safe and loved. Her gentle side comes out with older kids who can match her playful energy, and she loves flopping over for belly rubs when she’s comfortable. She’s the type of dog who will leave pawprints on your heart—and maybe a bit of mud on your hiking boots!
