We’re proud to introduce our new Community Veterinary Clinic, expanding our family of services alongside our popular Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic and Spay/Neuter Clinic. With a strong reputation for medical excellence, Pets In Need is further enhancing access to high-quality, accessible care on the Peninsula.
This animal-wellness initiative aligns with Pets In Need’s mission to ensure every animal in our community receives affordable, routine care. Our Community Veterinary Clinic focuses on preventative services to keep pets healthy, complementing the comprehensive care offered by local full-service veterinary practices.

Meet your vet
Dr. Barbara Laderman-Jones, Principal of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Barbie is the 3rd veterinarian in the world (yes, the world!) to have completed a 3-year residency in Shelter Medicine and has held leadership roles at San Francisco SPCA, Placer SPCA, among others. She brings a level of expertise and knowledge that has already helped grow a culture of excellence and professional rigor in both of our shelters. Dr. Barbie is a Certified Animal Welfare Professional, is Board Certified in Shelter Medicine, has a DVM from the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island, an MS from Wayne State University, and a BS from Michigan Technological University.
Dr. Hannah McCarthy, Staff Veterinarian
Dr. Hannah McCarthy, DVM, earned her veterinary degree from Tufts University and a Bachelor's in Animal Rights, Welfare, and Medicine from Hendrix College. She has extensive experience in clinics and animal hospitals, and was awarded the prestigious Steve Marton Veterinary Student Scholarship for her dedication to accessible care in underserved communities. Dr. McCarthy is also known for her leadership in creating educational programs and a successful TNR initiative, reflecting her passion for compassionate, community-focused animal care.
