Roo's Happy-Ever-After

February 2020 was a month of big change for many, including Roo. He had just been transferred to our Redwood City facility from a partner shelter in the Central Valley, and this 10-year-old guy was ready for his second chance.

Roo had sores on his neck, fleas all over his body, and needed dental work. We got him cleaned up, and through it all, his friendly personality always shined bright.

On August 1, 2020, after six months in the shelter and with fosters, Roo's perfect match walked through the doors. Mike and Laurie had been watching Roo's journey through our social media, and while they were not actively searching for another dog, his story really stuck with them.

A year and a half later, Roo is thriving with his forever family. Roo is the first one to greet them in the morning with his wagging tail and the last one to say goodnight. He is so sweet, he gets along with their resident pets and other pups he meets, and he adores their children. Roo is enjoying life to the fullest, and so are they. They couldn't imagine their lives without him, it's like he's always been there.

We are grateful for people like Roo's family who not only chose to adopt a shelter pet, but a senior shelter dog with an unknown past. Mike and Laurie want to encourage others to take a second look at adoptable senior pets or pets with challenges as you never know how much joy one of these creatures can bring you. Happy tails, Roo!
