A Desperate Plea Saves Midnight’s Life
Midnight’s owner called us in a panic. His three-year-old kitty was suffering from an infection in her uterus called pyometra, and she urgently needed surgery to survive.
His vet quoted him several thousand dollars to perform the operation. Unfortunately, this was financially out of reach for his family. He pleaded with us, “I’m willing to do anything. I just want my kitty to be healthy and get through this. Can you help?”
We receive these heartbreaking calls often. So many pet owners in our community love their animals deeply but face barriers when it comes to accessible and affordable veterinary care. As part of our outreach efforts, we are working to make veterinary care more readily available for community members in need of assistance so that animals can stay in their homes and out of shelters.
We are thankful Midnight’s owner found us when he did. Our staff veterinarian performed the necessary procedure the very next day at no cost to the owner. Midnight is alive today thanks to the generous support of our donors who make our programs possible.
Our work has always centered around improving the lives of animals, and that includes supporting greater equity in pet ownership so that all of our neighbors can experience the joy that animal companions bring.
So far this fiscal year, we have provided more than 250 animals with free or low-cost veterinary services through our onsite and mobile clinics. It is a privilege to give hope and reassurance to pet owners when they need it most, and we are grateful to our community for supporting us as we continue to save beloved animals like Midnight through our outreach initiatives.
