Baby On Board
February 15 Update: Baby went home! In just a matter of weeks he went from being injured, to recovery to being adopted. We are thrilled that he now has a family to dote on him. Thank you to all those who sent messages of love and support for Baby during his journey with us. Happy tails, Baby!
A 1-year-old bulldog-pitbull mix called “Baby” was left outside of our Palo Alto shelter late last month after staff and volunteers had gone home for the evening.
Baby was discovered early the next morning suffering from severe lacerations to the head and neck. Staff immediately rushed Baby to an emergency veterinary clinic for treatment.
Had Baby not received treatment when he did, he would have died.
Today Baby is back at Pets In Need resting and recuperating. He received numerous stitches, experienced considerable swelling and had drains placed in his arms over many days in order to remove fluid.
Despite the hardship he's been through, Baby is affectionate and kind, and has quickly become a favorite of staff and volunteers.
Baby’s story received extensive coverage including from Fox 2, NBC Bay Area, Los Altos Town Crier, Palo Alto Online and The Mercury News.
Baby is just one of numerous pets that we rescue who have faced significant challenges in their lives. The injuries Baby sustained are heartbreaking, but there are many other dogs in our care who deserve a second chance.
