About Darla

Estimated age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Size: 75 lbs.
Location: Palo Alto

Meet Darla, a sweet and shy canine seeking a forever home that embraces tranquility. This lovely girl thrives in quiet moments and treasures her space, revealing a shining heart once she warms up. With a soft spot for treats and chew toys, Darla is an ideal companion for cozy nights in. She would flourish with enrichment, stimulating toys, and activities that engage her brilliant mind, fostering both intelligence and confidence. If you're prepared to offer Darla the patience and love she deserves, she eagerly awaits to become your loyal companion in a peaceful home and neighborhood.

Notes from Darla’s foster parents:

Darla, our foster dog, has excelled in potty training and learned commands like sit, wait, and drop. She finds comfort in her crate, located in our bedroom with three sides covered, using it willingly for sleep and naps. Darla's leash behavior is excellent, with occasional playful tugging, and she remains calm around other dogs, showing discomfort only with larger canines. She adapts well to being left alone, displaying prior house experience and rarely barking.

Despite a reserved demeanor with strangers, Darla is affectionate, enjoying lap snoozing and interactive play. While she dislikes certain sounds and liquid Benadryl, she is versatile with food treats. Despite minor challenges like skin issues and dog-reactivity, Darla's best qualities shine through—she is loving, quick to learn, and appreciates both cuddling and independent time. Prospective adopters should be aware of Darla's sensitivity and preference for gentle guidance. Ideal for adults with dog experience, she seeks a loving home that understands her need for both guidance and freedom, with access to a safe outdoor space. Darla, a unique and endearing companion, deserves a home filled with love and understanding.
Darla was found as a stray and brought in by a good Samaritan.
