Bark! Bark! Bark! Bark! Costello's foster story

Costello is very special to us. Even though we knew he had it in him to be a great pet, he wasn't showing well at the shelter. When potential adopters approached his kennel, he jumped and barked desperately. Most people kept walking. As the days turned into weeks, we began to worry.

Since his adoption prospects seemed vanishingly slim, we decided to send him home with a foster. After only a few hours, she was able to confirm what we had suspected all along. Away from the shelter, Costello was happy, quiet, calm, and polite. 

Once he came back, we needed to find an adopter willing to take a chance on him. Again, weeks passed. When the right guy came along, we told him the truth about the barking and held our breath.

Costello has been in his new home now for two months, and it's no exaggeration to say they've been the happiest months of his young life. Thank you to everyone who worked with and took a chance on this silly hound—we couldn't do this lifesaving work without you.
