REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — July 5, 2026 — Pets In Need, a socially conscious animal welfare organization dedicated to the life-changing power of the human-animal bond, today announced increased generous partnership with the Goldfield Family Foundation. The Foundation’s support will sustain and expand the pioneering Goldfield Good Dog Club, an innovative pet mental health program designed to support dogs experiencing fear, anxiety, stress, and other behavioral challenges limiting their adoption prospects.
First launched in 2024, the Goldfield Good Dog Club provides individualized behavior care through structured enrichment, in-shelter engagement, board and train support, foster collaboration, and intensive post-adoption resources. The program was created to help dogs who often face longer shelter stays and greater barriers to adoption receive the time, structure, and specialized support needed to successfully transition into adoptive homes. This increased behavioral focus has shortened Pets In Need’s average length of stay, allowing them to bring in nearly 50% more dogs than the year prior.
Since its launch, the Goldfield Good Dog Club has become a foundational part of Pets In Need’s canine standard of care, allowing the organization to expand its capacity and deepen support for dogs requiring substantial behavioral intervention. Dogs participating in the program benefit from next-level, customized behavior plans, individualized training, consistent handling, and support designed to reduce fear, build confidence, and improve long-term adoption success.
Over 900 dogs have utilized the program and been adopted into loving homes, and with continued support from the Goldfield Family Foundation, Pets In Need expects to expand behavioral services for hundreds more dogs over the coming years while increasing access to individualized enrichment, Board and Train, foster partnerships, and post-adoption support.
“The Goldfield Family Foundation’s continued vision for this work has helped transform what is possible for shelter dogs who need consequential behavioral support. The Goldfield Good Dog Club has become an essential part of how we care for all dogs at Pets In Need, allowing us to intervene earlier, support dogs more intentionally, and help more animals successfully transition into homes. The Goldfield Good Dog Club now positively impacts our standard of care for all our canines.”
The Goldfield Good Dog Club reflects a growing shift within animal welfare toward individualized, behavior-centered care that prioritizes long-term outcomes for both pets and adopters. Through this work, Pets In Need continues to build a more responsive and compassionate model of care for dogs who may otherwise face uncertain outcomes in a traditional shelter environment.
